Super Friend Party

For Lincoln's friend party we had a superhero theme and invited all his friends to help him find the bad guy that stole his birthday cupcakes. After we made their no-sew capes and masks, they got rid of all the kryptonite in the yard and suddenly the "bad guy" appeared and ran around the yard with the cupcakes. Check out the video to see the kids attacking him with silly string. Great fun!

We are very fortunate to have many wonderful neighbors. Linc has a lot of little friends that are so sweet to him. Thank you to all our friends for making his neighborhood party so fun!

Easter Fun

We had a neighborhood Easter egg hunt and had a great time. Mei and Ya helped Scout the whole time and Lincoln amazingly only gathered the allotted 12 eggs per kid. Check out Tami's blog to see a funny video she captured of Scout while she was egg hunting.

Snip, Snip

A couple of weeks ago Linc got his Summer buzz. Dave is the one that is severely attached to his locks, so I was surprised when I got a little sad this time it was buzzed.

We pondered leaving it like this, but thought that he may get a wind-blown comb-over at some point.

Just because it's funny

I was looking for stuff online about Superman, and found this comic strip. My, how times have changed. The notations about the strip state the irony of Superman, who saved women from wife-beaters had no problem discipling a woman he felt had been "naughty". However, they were quick to point out that times and circumstances were different then, and kids (the comic strip's target audience) would understand this consequence since many children were spanked at that time. I just found it humorous and thought it might make you grin. By the way, I haven't forgotten all you girls who responded to my post about a book group. I'm just trying to figure out how to organize it so that it will be fun. I honestly didn't think that anyone would respond. So, hooray for you guys!

Is anyone interested?

Shay and I were lamenting over the fact that we don't live closer and then got to talking about books. I belong to a book group and it's fun. But, it's really hard for me to be able to go to the little gatherings and find babysitters and all that stuff because of Dave's weird schedule and my special child. =) She came up with the idea of doing an online book group thing. So, what do you think? I know a lot of you few people who read my blog do read. Anyone interested if I started a book blog? I would never be a book-nazi or anything like that. We could make it really casual and fun. I don't know about you, but blogging has been my little itty bit of sanity some evenings after my kids go to bed. I'm a freak okay?! I don't even know how I would do it or what kind of rules we would have, but I thought it could be worth a try if someone wants to. Let me know. I will take it as a no-go if no one comments on this post. This is open to all (including my sisters, neighbors, and long-distant friends). Oh wait, that's everyone!

Hooray for the Sun!

Five things to be grateful for on Thursday:

1. The sun rising over the mountains.
2. Feeling the warm sun beat down on you through the window on a chilly morning.
3. Having your children ask you to close the blinds because the sun is so bright.
4. Having the sun wake me up instead of Lincoln.
5. Lincoln asking for sunglasses to wear outside.

Our First FHE

To all those that have been doing FHE since their children were born, yes, this was our first FHE with our children. So sue me! It was all of about 5 minutes long and went very well, with one minor incident. We did the song and then heard one of the most heartfelt prayers from Linc in a long time. The lesson was about our bodies and how we are children of God. I was reading to him out of a book that has several other stories. In the middle of the story Linc yelled out, "When do they cut off their arms?" He wouldn't let it go. So, after we read about baby Jesus we had to read about how Ammon cut off the guys arms. Needless to say, it is his favorite scripture story. Just wait until I read to him Old Testament stories. Tons of blood and gore there. Is that typical or what?
