The problem with being a parent is that by the time you are experienced, you are usually unemployed.

Self-induced Time Out Duo
I went to check on Lincoln and Scout before I jumped in the shower this morning. I saw them sitting at the bottom of our stairs (which is our time out spot) and they looked up at me and Lincoln said, "We are on time out mom!" And Scout in her best English said, "Time out mom!". The "why?" was barely out of my mouth when I saw why they had put themselves there. A large bag of goldfish, two bowls of cheerios, and a box of oatmeal packets were very strategically placed all over the rug. After losing it (only slightly, of course) I asked why they would do this. Linc said that they were eating a snack on the rug, and the oatmeal packets were a fence to keep me out. They are becoming thick as thieves and it scares me. I'm sure that me grabbing my camera to capture the moment didn't help in the "that was naughty" reprimand I gave them.

I think "thick as thieves" is an understatement!!!
Camille says . . .
"That's really smart for two little kids. The oatmeal was a great idea!"
Creative kids; that's all there is too that, especially since I don't have to clean it up! :)

PS: I have a link to my review of the Glass Castle on my blog. It's a very interesting book. I was terribly angry at the parents and at times I was angry at Jeannette for enabling her parents but what I loved about this book was the sibling support shown with the three oldest children for each other and the message that no one is perfect and your past makes you who you are--embrace it!

OK, that is SERIOUSLY hilarious.
SO sorry. Yet- I understand the thick as theives. Funny how it goes from that to worst enemies in a short amount of time... I am beginning to echo your statement this morning- how early is too early to be done with your kids for the day?
That is a great fence! You have very creative kids. I love that they put themselves in timeout! Too funny!
